We are very fortunate to have a doctors’ surgery in the village, as well as a branch surgery at 45 St Peters Drive in Martley. You can get a comprehensive guide to all you want to know at the surgeries, but these are some useful facts:

Need a repeat prescription, you can order one in the following ways:
In person at one of the surgeries.
By telephone on 01299 890056 between 1 p.m. and 3.30 p.m.
By email: wor-pct.GreatWitleyRptPrescriptions@nhs.net
(give your name and address, date of birth, items needed, and the strength
of the medication (5 mcg/mg or 20 mls, for example) – and your telephone number
By post
By fax on 01299 896873
Repeat prescriptions will be ready for collection after 2 p.m. if requested before 10 a.m. two days before – for example, a repeat prescription requested before 10 a.m. on Monday will be ready after 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
If you find it difficult to collect your prescription there is a delivery service. Let the Dispensary know at the time of ordering your medication. At the moment we can deliver to Martley surgery or Clifton on Teme Stores.
Appointments All consultations are by appointment only. Please telephone 01299 896788 to
make an appointment, or call at Reception. When you come to the surgery, please let the Receptionist know that you have arrived. Please let us know if you can’t make your appointment. There are some appointments kept for URGENT cases,
but they must be urgent!
Home Visits If you really cannot get to the surgery, please try to telephone 01299 896370 before
10 a.m.
Emergencies Out of hours, if you need emergency help or advice, you should telephone this number: 03001233211. This is the new direct number. You will get through to someone who will immediately be able to help. If you phone the surgery number, 01299 896370, you will get help, but it may take a few minutes longer because you will be transferred. Either way, don’t worry, a doctor will be there for you. (It may not be a doctor you know, but they will be local, and they will always be there).
Test Results If you want to know the result of a test, please telephone 01299 896370 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to ensure that the doctor has had time to review it.
Antenatal/Postnatal
Clinic Each doctor has a weekly clinic – Reception has all the details.
The Community Midwife runs an antenatal clinic on Mondays, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The Health Visitor runs a Child Health clinic on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., giving general advice, baby weighing etc. Make an appointment with Reception on 01299 8965788.
Reception will always be able to help you with anything you may want to know, whether you need
family planning advice, advice about going abroad, or information about tests, clinics, or
organisations that can offer support.
